The SRC Competition Manual is the rulebook for the Sphero Robotics Competition, and it is a download. This season’s game is Launch Party.
SRC is the U19 division, Grades 6-12. Unlike the Missions programmes it is played as matches, team against team, with a separate set of Technology Trials.
What is in it
- What SRC Launch Party is, and the field at a glance.
- How scoring works, and the scoring rules.
- Safety, and how everyone is expected to act.
- Match rules, split into before the match starts and during the match.
- The endgame, which is the final 20 seconds and scores differently.
- Robot rules, which are the same ones checked at inspection.
- Technology Trials, and the Tech Trials field.
- The event schedule and the Championship Event advancement criteria.
- A quick reference with every rule on one spread, which is the page to print for the pit.
Read the robot rules before you build
Every robot is inspected before it competes, and the inspection works straight from the robot rules in this manual. Size, the unmodified Blueprint Swerve Drive base, the standard battery, allowed motors and sensors, and Student-Powered verification are all checked. A robot that fails may not compete until it is corrected and passes re-inspection. The SRC Inspection Sheet is the form used to do it, and it is worth checking your own robots against it in advance.
Always work from the current version
The manual is updated during the season and a new version takes effect as soon as it is published, replacing the one before it. Download a fresh copy before an event.
