The Mission Manual is the rulebook for RVR Missions, and it is a download. It is the document a team works from all season, and the one an Evaluator scores against on the day.
RVR Missions is the U15 division, Grades 6-8. This season’s Missions are set in a smart city.
The Mission Objectives
Four Mission Objectives this season. Each one has its own setup section, rules and scoring, so read the setup before building anything.
- Mission Objective 1: Sorting Waste
- Mission Objective 2: Bus Routes
- Mission Objective 3: Air Quality Monitoring
- Mission Objective 4, the Championship Mission: Power Grid Maintenance
Qualifying Events run Missions 1 to 3. Championship Events add Mission 4.
What else is in it
The Missions are the part teams read first, but most of the manual is the rules that decide whether a run counts.
- Sphero Robotics Mission Common Rules, which apply across every programme, including the Student-Powered requirements and the Code of Conduct.
- Safety rules, including signed waivers for every student and adult supervision at all times.
- In-Person Event rules, covering timed rounds, which attempt counts, when a score can be challenged, and the fact that a Team Coordinator may not help during a Mission Objective.
- RVR Mission rules, the ones specific to this programme.
- Robot and hardware rules, and Mission Field rules.
- Mission participation guidelines, awards, and the Championship Event advancement criteria.
- Season specific terms and a glossary, which is worth reading once before anyone argues about a definition.
Always work from the current version
Mission Manuals are updated during the season, and a new version takes effect the moment it is published. Every published version is official and mandatory at every event, and it replaces the one before it. Download a fresh copy before an event rather than working from one saved in August.
